Update On Gambit Movies

Infamous for its place in development hell, 20th Century Fox’s Gambit film has been a major mystery since losing its initial director, Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and his replacement, Doug Liman (Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow), back in August. Though Channing Tatum is reportedly still attacked to the project, fans have been left in the dark about the X-Men spinoff’s status — until now.
Speaking to ScreenRant, X-Men franchise producer Hutch Parker shed some light on the film, clarifying that it is indeed still in production.
What that exactly means for Gambit — considering the film doesn’t currently have a creative team attached to the project — remains a mystery. But, at least, fans know the film is still on Fox’s radar, even after the departure of Liman, who will still direct the Justice League Dark film for Warner Bros. and DC Films.
Initially saying he wasn’t “feeling” the script, Liman later elaborated on his reason for departing the project, saying, “I never formed a connection…Many of these movies, I don’t have the connection on day one, but I find the connection. I just never find it. I don’t always find a connection. I want to make a movie that, if anybody else made it, it would be different.”
