Ryan Reynolds Releases Logan’s Deadpool Teaser

If you’ve been scouring the internet for a look at the Deadpool teaser attached to the front of “Logan,” look no further. Ryan Reynolds has you covered.

The “Deadpool” star has debuted an official version of the much-discussed scene, so you no longer have to suffer through a blurry recording captured on someone’s mobile phone in a noisy theater

As one might expect, the sequence is littered with Easter eggs (and, well, litter), as Reynolds’ Wade Wilson strolls past a theater showing “Logan” and witnesses a mugging in a nearby alley. Springing into action to the sounds of John Williams’ “Superman Theme,” he rushes to a conveniently placed telephone booth for a quick costume change, which ends up being a more complicated — and moretime-consuming — process than you might think. Alas, Deadpool is far too late to save the mugging victim, and he’s all torn up about it.

Aside from Reynolds’ bare butt pressed against the glass of the telephone booth, you’ll note the graffiti “Nathan Summers Comming Soon” (complete with the misspelling), a nod to the hotly anticipated introduction of Cable in the “Deadpool” sequel.  There also tattered posters in the background for “Firefly,” presumably a shoutout to “Deadpool” co-star Morena Baccarin who played Inara on the fan-favorite Joss Whedon TV series.
There’s also the obligatory Stan Lee cameo — “Zip it, Stan Lee!” — who of course also popped up in “Deadpool,” and what appears to be “Reynolds,” with a crown, tagged on the front of the theater.
Directed by James Mangold, “Logan” stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Dafne Keen and Stephen Merchant. It’s in theaters now.
The “Deadpool” sequel — “coming not soon enough” — is directed by David Leitch (“John Wick”), and stars Reynolds, joined by (so far) Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder and, presumably, Stefan KapiÄŤić as the voice of Colossus. It’s targeted for release in 2018.
